Online Guitar Lessons Kids Love

Lessons That Keep Kids Excited About Guitar

We believe every lesson should leave your child excited to keep learning, so they stick with it long enough to become a guitar player.

That means learning songs they’re excited to play, with an encouraging teacher who makes lessons something they look forward to each week — building a love of guitar they can carry with them for life.

The Right Teacher Makes All the Difference

Great guitar teaching is about more than musical expertise. It’s about knowing how to connect with the student in front of you.

That’s why we look for teachers who genuinely enjoy working with kids — teachers who are patient, encouraging, explain things clearly, and know how to make learning feel fun and achievable.

The goal isn’t just to teach your child guitar. It’s to give them a teacher they’ll look forward to learning with each week.

I can't believe how much Karsten has progressed in the last year. He's playing confidently and we can recognize the songs he's playing and even sing along when he lets us!

My son picked it up right away and I have seen so much growth since he started and we are only in our 3rd session. He is very proud and loves to play for his friends and family.

Like all parents we spend a large portion of our time traveling to various activities, it is very nice to have one that is at home while also adding so much joy and enjoyment to the kids lives.

Katie is enjoying playing guitar, has learned lots from the lessons. Katie has learned new cords, techniques and new songs that she enjoys playing. Katie’s favourite thing about lessons is actually getting to play guitar.
Marlies
As a musician myself, I was initially apprehensive of guitar lessons being taught online versus in person, but I was pleasantly proven wrong. I also appreciate the ease of having her lesson taught in our home where I can hear her progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages are GuitarLove lessons for?
GuitarLove offers private online guitar lessons for kids ages 8 and up.

Does my child need any guitar experience?
Not at all. Complete beginners are welcome, as are kids who have already been playing for a while. Lessons meet your child where they are and move forward from there.

What does my child need for lessons?
They’ll need a guitar, a device for joining their lesson, and a guitar method book available on Amazon. A laptop or tablet is recommended for a larger screen.

Both acoustic and electric guitars work. If you’re not sure what guitar or size to buy, just reach out — we’re happy to help.

Will my child actually stay focused during an online lesson?
This is one of the most common questions we hear from parents. Our lessons are designed to keep kids actively playing rather than sitting and listening for long stretches. Short explanations, lots of playing, and one-on-one attention help keep kids involved throughout the lesson.

Does my child need to practice between lessons?
Practice helps, but we don’t believe a busy week without practice means guitar lessons aren’t working.

The most important thing is that your child keeps showing up, enjoys learning, and continues making progress over time. Their weekly lesson gives them dedicated time to play, learn, and improve — and anything they do between lessons is a bonus.

What will my child learn?
Lessons are personalized around your child’s interests, goals, and level. They can learn the songs and styles they’re excited about while building skills such as chords, tabs, scales, soloing, fingerpicking, and more.

Their teacher helps guide their song choices so they’re challenging enough to make progress without being so difficult that learning becomes frustrating.

Can my child learn acoustic or electric guitar?
Yes. We teach both acoustic and electric guitar across a wide variety of musical styles and genres.

Do parents need to be there during the lesson?
No. Kids ages 10+ can attend their lessons independently.

For younger students, we recommend having a parent nearby at first while they get comfortable with the lesson and technology. Once they’ve got the hang of it, they can attend independently too.

What happens after each lesson?
Your teacher sends detailed Lesson Notes after every lesson with what your child learned, the pages or materials they used, helpful links, and what they can work on next.

What if we need to reschedule?
Life happens. With 48 hours’ notice, you can reschedule your lesson into one of our available makeup times.

How does billing work?
Lessons are $40 each and billed monthly based on the number of lessons scheduled that month. There’s no long-term commitment. If you decide to stop lessons, we simply require 14 days’ notice.
